@I-AM-TIM, I just bought a Baron tachometer and am having a problem installing it, could you please give me some tips on the install. I installed it per instructions, but I'm assuming I messed up somewhere, it did not work. I piggy backed all the splices, that might have been my problem, I just don't konw for sure. I'm installing it on a 2009 Honda Shadow Spirit 750. Thanks for any help.

Sorry to hear you're having issues.
Did you follow the eurekaboy instructions here: Tachometer? If so, you may have used the wrong wire. He says he used a blue/white and he shows a blue/white wire disconnected. Problem is, he shows a light-blue/white wire disconnected and you need to use the dark-blue/white wire. The light-blue/white will work but only when your turn signals are on. Here is his picture: ![]() If you look at the next picture he is showing the red and blue wires spiced into the dark-blue/white wire: ![]() In the above picture you can see the black wire (ground) going to the silver screw below the green wires. All that is left is the coil wire. Just make a "Y" connection, like this: ![]() I believe the wire colors between our models are the same so that should make it work. Let me know how it goes. Tim

Hey thanks a lot I-AM-TIM, I really appreciate the help you've provided. I haven't had the time to do the install, but from what I see, I should have no problem. I have been very busy lately and unable to get to the installation, but I plan on doing it as soon as possible.

Like I-AM-TIM said, you need to use the dark blue wire. Here's my post from another thread.
The Eurekaboy how-to is super helpful. I would make one slight change to it though. It says to use the blue-white striped wire for the power. There are 3 blue-white striped wires. One is dark blue and the other two are light blue. One of the light blue wires does only have power when the turn signal is activated like the Eurekaboy website says. I checked the other light blue wire with a volt meter and saw it had power without the turn signal being on and I used it. The mistake is, that other light blue wire LOSES power when the right turn signal is on, so my tach kept resetting when I would make right turns. Took a day or two to figure out I may have used the wrong wire. Yep, gotta use the dark blue wire. |
