after 3 days, pbblaster and a hammer drill - i won! The nuts are off and so is my crankcase cover - and my starter! I feel like dancing! One last question though - what is a good gasket sealant to use on this when I get my new gasket?

I am pulling on the left crankcase cover and it seems to want to spring back as soon as I get it close to being off the shifter...my clymers shows the plate coming off to reveal a bolt but mine is solid underneath. Do I need to remove anything on the other side?

There is a pretty strong magnetic force between the stator (attached to the left crankcover) and the magnets (attached to the crank-shaft). You may need to just pull on the left crankcover harder. If all the appropriate bolts are removed, that's all you need to do. |
