Well after my first oil change I got ripped of at $15 a quart for honda synthetic oil so 3 quarts that means $45 alone! Seems reading oilogy thread and many others people are liking this oil alot but there are also a bit of unhappy riders out there noticing a metal to metal crunch feel, and various other problems after the change. So my question is has anyone notice even the littlest or any negatives when they made the switch? Also which filters do you buy at walmart, a car filter for a honda?

I use it on both bike with a car filter, never had a problem with rotella or rotella T6 syn .... there are probably hundreds here that use with without issue other then a few like Maurice1 that didn't care for a noise or feel, but they are far and few between.

Last oil change I used Rotella T6. It's 5w40. Had some concerns as Honda calls fro 10w40. But all seems to be well. And the oil apparently holds up very well.

I have never used Rotella, & have nothing against it. However oil that is produced to protect a diesel engine that does not use a oil bath clutch like your shadow is something to think about. Diesel engines also typically run at slower engine speeds than a motorcycle, although not to many V twins run at very high RPM's either, but generally higher than most diesels. It past years I always ran auto racing oil in my bikes. Today most auto oils have additives to help reduce friction (bad for wet clutches), so I have been running MC oil. That said lots of people like Rotella, but I usually change the oil in my bike only 1 or 2 times a year. So the difference in $ is not that great.

I went through 3 oil changes trying to get rid out the dreaded tick. Tried Rotella T-6, and a Wally World oil filter at about 4,200 miles after doing some research. Tick gone after a couple hundred miles. Now at 7,000 miles, and I haven't noticed any problems, or metal to metal sound. Hope this helps you. http://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/Oils1.html Try this site for info.

I changed to 5w40 Rotella almost 15,000 mi. ago. The shift from 1-2 sounds the same, (noisly)motor runs pretty quiet, and I'm presently running it at 5000 mi. per change. I'm thinking of using another brand just to see if there could be a difference. I ran it in my ZR7 and geatly improved it's gearbox compared to dino oil.
