Question engine swap question

Excuse me if this has been covered already....
My bike has been in the shop for 2 months due to a parts availability problem.
Is an 84 700 engine a direct swap into an 83 750 Shadow?

Thank you in advance.

Both bike have the same Frame Part number... So, my guess is that it will work. Not that it will be any easier to get 84 parts.

thank you.
That is what I needed.
The mechanic has a complete running 84 700... with bad carbs.
But mine were rebuilt 2 months ago when this fiasco started. We just got a set of 6 assist shafts from ebay. The swap is a worst case scenario in case there is a problem with the shafts.

Why not just buy the 84 and swap your carbs onto it???

If the bikes are in the same condition 93gc40's suggestion would also be mine.

Scraping to come up w/ the repair $$$.
Buying the 84 would cost even more...
Otherwise it would already be done.
