A month or so ago my Shadow developed this nasty habit of only running on one cylinder once every couple of weeks. Then on a ~100 mile trip last weekend it died outright. One minute it was humming along and everything was fine, then every light on the bike goes out and it just stops running.

After I got it home I cut & soldered the previously crimp connected yellow wires which are a common headache in these shadows. Then I cleaned the battery terminals and everything seemed to right itself. Then today at 5:30 am it dies again totally out of nowhere. After I get it pulled over I turn the key off, turn the key on, and everything is fine again. Riding it back home to get the car, the headlight occasionally blinks off and on.

I've never encountered this on any vehicle before, what's going on?
