Default HELP -- Clutch Diode/Switch

1995 VT 1100C2 ACE.
I bought this bike a few weeks ago. Clutch switch was missing. So I bought a clutch switch. Checked it before installing it and it works. Installed it, put the bike in gear, disengaged the clutch, and hit the starter button. Lights dim like they should but no starter action.
I have run continuity test on the diode and it passes. Decided to check continuity between the wire connectors on the bars and the connector block that you plug the diode into. One side had continuity, but the other didn't. I;m not sure if it is even supposed to have continuity now. See the sketch. I am stumped. The side without continuity, I replaced with a jumper wire, but that didnt solve the problem either. What am I missing?

Never mind. I'm an idiot. I was trying to start it from my mechanic's stool sitting next to the bike. Duh. Raise the kickstand dummy.

Its all good now.
