Exclamation Questions for some pros about my 84 vt700c

1.) How do you get the recessed spark plugs out a regular spark plug wrench is to wide and won't fit in the hole.

2.) Bike is turning over and has good compression but won't start. A little gas is leaking out of the left carb at the bottom by the top of the engine. Carbs need to be rebuilt because jets are clogged or what ?

3.) Whats the easiest way to test if my alternator is working?

The first one is easy, buy a cheap double ended box spanner that will fit the plug and drop into the hole. this will not do the job on it's own but now you can fit a socket spanner on to the other end of the box and out comes the plug.

That might help with 2. and measure your battery voltage for 3.

John.

I recently went to Honda and bought their spark plug socket (maybe that is the box spanner John mentioned above) for about $10. It fits my bike perfectly which is not a surprise because it is made for it. You have to use a box wrench to drive it because there is very little room for anything else. I've heard folks say that it costs as much as $20 so I may have gotten lucky. I'd give your local Honda shop a call and ask them if they have one and for how much. Good luck!
