Default Vacuum Piston Question

I think I already know the answer but let's give it a try anyway....

Does anyone know if you can repair a rip in the diaphragm of the vacuum piston from the carb in my '83 VT750c?

ive read on another forum for old suzukis, where people have had some luck repairing pinholes or very small tears with the sticky ends of a band-aid cut into an appropriate sized patch. Never tried it myself, but seems like it could work.

Oh yeah, I dont doubt that theres a bunch of ***** you could use. but he stated a RIP!!
but I'm also the kinda person that will just replace it if its defective, dont care much for the bandaid fixxes for anything, but to each there own.
Now thats not to say I wouldnt give it a shot for a temporary fix, till I got my replacement part in

Here's a picture of it:

Seems that it is a $100 to $140 to buy. I really don't want to finish the carb rebuild with it but was just thinking of the possibilities....

rkforrest,
Good point about doing it right before putting it back together.
(I would not have a lot of room to complain since I' m doing the work.

But while waiting on my part I was just going Hmmmmm.... I wonder if I could have fixed this while on the road......

Which generated the post.

85.00 + ship Motorcycle Tires, Discount OEM Motorcycle Parts, Motorcycle Apparel, Motorcycle Accessories, Motorcycle Helmets, Motorcycle Jackets, Motorcycle Gloves

best prices anywhere.
I would try something simalar to a bike tube patch, shaved down thin.
but any fuel that gets up there is most likely going to eat the adhesive. with probably anything you use.

That rip looks clean and the rest of the diaphram looks good. You could fix that easily but if you have the cash, best to replace it. Mine where horrible and had holes as large as 1/6th of the circumference. Here is a link to my fix. I would like to have just bought new but not in my current budget. Bike runs fantastic though now with lots of power.
