Thanks that does help. Ha yeah I've done quite a bit of work pulling the rust off those forks. They used to be completely brown for about six inches from the top but besides the pitting they're all clean now. Rest of the fork body is almost perfect. Know any way to get rid of the rust pits?

Replace the tubes. Once their pitted where the seals slide on it it will eat fork seals like crazy...
Once the seal goes you will get fork oil on your brakes, and that sucks... I know a guy that ground them down slightly than filled them with JB Weld, sanded it down smooth and ran it like that. He said it worked for about 2 seasons. Your not selling it are ya? I'd be pissed off if I bought a bike that had the pitted tubes covered up by boots.
