Why is it so hard for people to figure this out today?
Gas mix is the same whether petcock is in ON position or RESERVE position. If it ran fine on reserve to the gas station, the only possibility is that it was out of gas unless the bike has 2 separate gas tanks.

I didn't have anyone to powder coat and was looking to keep the cost down, so it's all rattle-can.
For all the non-engine/exhaust parts, I gave a quick sanding with around 500 grit paper to scuff the surface of the aluminum and even the chromed parts, then used self-etching primer, then hit it with the enamel. Primer: Dupli-Color :: Self-Etching Primer Enamel in Flat Black: Dupli-Color :: Premium Enamel For the engine, I used a flat black engine enamel, and for the exhaust I used a exhaust / header specific paint. I scuff sanded all parts before painting and left all parts that I painted to sit for at least 2 days to cure before I would even handle them. So far it's holding up pretty well.
