so yesterday i put some seafoam in the gas tank ( the tank was about 1/4 full when i added it) and engine oil to try to clean up the insides, i went for a spin yesterday and no problem.
today i went to work in the morning with no problem but today afterwork was having trouble starting the bike and once it got started it would die after a few revs, in neutral or while in 1st gear. i switched the gas switch to reserve thinking maybe i could get a lil clean gas/ no seafoam mix and it started and revd with no problem, i made it to a gas station and filled about half way with premium after about 3 blocks i switched it back to the regular gas line and made it home no problem. i was thinking maybe there was more seafoam in the tank than gas perhaps, but i didnt even put all that much as i was trying to test it out first before dumping the whole bottle in. any advice or tips. Thank you ![]()

You should only be adding 1 oz of Seafoam per gallon of gas. The Seafoam will do it's magic over a period of time when mixed that way. If you only had a 1/4 of a tank of gas it sounds like maybe you added too much Seafoam. Fill the tank, add 3 to 4 oz's of Seafoam and give it some time and miles...

was there only a 1/4 tank of gas the whole time until your trip home after work when you stopped and filled it up? im not sure, but i think you shouldve had a full tank or filled it up completely after putting the seafoam in the tank. ive never used the seafoam stuff,so im not 100% certain..but id think youd have to have a full tank in order for it to work properly and be a better ratio mix of gas/seafoam.

Seafoam takes time to do its magic sometimes. It can also break lose small particles of dirt that clog the small journal/ports in your carbs, so it still possible that you may need a good manual carb cleaning.
It also possible that your entire fuel system need to be cleaned. The tank, petcock, filter and carbs need to be gone thru. Seafoam can clean, but can also cause stuff to break lose and plug up filters over time.

It ran fine on reserve to the gas station... Since all you're doing by switching to reserve is using a lower opening on the petcock (same fuel as the on position) it would lead me to believe you just ran low on gas. I've never heard of using too much Seafoam to the point of having engine problems.
