Here's a good video to check out for that. Instead of using bolts and screws though, I would suggest running down to the local pet store and getting those aquarium rocks that they sell for fish tanks, they are about a dollar and would work better

A length of chain works best, You only have to grab one piece to get it out of your tank and your done. It can be a PITA getting loose particles out of your tank...

I keep a bucket of water mixed with lots of baking soda close by when I do this. If it gets on the paint you just wipe it away with a rag.
I've never had paint damaged with this method, but I'm careful.

I purchased a 99 aero 1100 in terrible condition but a great project bike. got it for dirt cheap and the first item to tackle was the rusty gas tank. Removed tank from bike. filled with vinegar and let it sit for 2 days. drained vinegar and put a 1/2 cup of laundry detergent with a chain inside tank.shake/ rinse and repeated 3 times. finished with nail polish remover or rubbing alcohol . then purchased RED-KOTE( only tank liner i would use), it has a degreaser of sorts, then the liner. follow directions and take your time. wait at least 2 days before you fill with gas. Sleeping Beauty's tank has given me no problems, and you never have to worry about rust again.
