Well, I have been busy as hell at work for the last 6 or so weeks, but I have been busy modding/upgrading my bike. I had a few things I just wanted to get done before my Dragon's tail trip this coming week.
First up, Air deflection, the fairing is awesome, but it created a little buffeting and a lot of blocking too...Buffeting any time SUCKS! AND even more, 100* in August here sucks more! So, insert Freedom Wings, these are HD fairing specific and make a ton of difference! ( If you dont know, this is a HD electra glide fairing) This is Pic of them closed, or in winter/rain mode. ![]() The next is in the OMG the air is burning my skin and 120% humidity mode. ![]() The Freedom Wings were about $60 or so, worth every penny! Now Speaking of Rain...Well Now that I have a radio...that is not completely waterproof, I need to stop the rain from getting into it, or at least slow it down. So here comes the cheap and almost completely free mod that we all normally like... I had some left over Plexiglass from work, well it was too small to use there so...I brought it home, just about enuff for a set or two of lowers...I thought. So I started planning on how to make a neat little rain sheild to protect the head unit... while parked mainly. So I learned how to bend plexi, this is first model, I will remake it one day, enjoy the pics. If you over heat plexi...well you see it later What I started with, 1/8" Plexi. ![]() What it looked like bent, I heated gently with propane torch and gently bent it while it was in a vise. ![]() Now, I cut a top and glued it on using some Lock tite glue. Then, a few minutes on the belt sander and she is ready for mounting. ![]() ![]() OK as you can see the pics are not the best, but you can see the basic Idea, I intended the cover to be easy on and off, I can adjust the radio by remote if I have to, but I dont plan on it. As you can see, if you over heat it by being impatiant it bubbles on you Now as you can see in the last pic, I added a GPS, Garmin LM 1300. Now I needed a rock solid mount for it, something CHEAP...that would hold it and not make me worry about losing it. The little plastic ball mounts are ok for a car, but not on my bike! The Bride and I were out on a nice Sunday ride and I came up with this idea. So... insert scrap stainless plate, about 1/16" this too was small leftovers from work. ![]() Now, as you can tell you can only see a front view, well that is cause I did not take any side views before mounting it, well sorry, not gonna remove it now... BUT, see the two screws, they are bolted to the mount, it is a piece of stainless 1/8" thick x2" wide x 6" bent in a "Z" shape. It is bolted through the little black plexi blank in the fairing. I used rubber tape for gaskets/anti skid. The plate is cut to fit the shape and size of the GPS, it wraps around the bottom of it to Cradle it. Then, 2" of Velcro to hold it in place. ![]() Now, I saw a post about someone redoing the baffles in their pipes and it got me to thinking...smoke churning yep! Well, I have a spare set of Cobra slip ons, well, they had no insulation at all...so I thought, WTH, give it a try. I followed some pointers Bernie and a few others gave and here is what I came up with...yep all FREE!!!!! Gotta love scrap from work So this is what the old ones looked like...yep bad and running rich...it looks like, plugs looked ok tho? ![]() [IMG] Then after stripping the old off I followed Bernie's idea, I wrapped Stainless mesh screen around the baffle to keep holes from getting plugged up and from losing all of it going down the road. This was secured with Stainless tie wire. ![]() Now, the baffle is wrapped with, I do not know proper name or spelling, but I know this stuff is super heat resistant and tuff, we use it on our 2400* furnace at work. I peeled 1/2" piece the length of the baffle and wrapped it tight. Then, I secured it with same SS Tie wire. It did help on my decel popping and quieted it down a touch.... ![]() OK, that is all for now, hope you enjoyed my stuff! A few more small things left...i think! Coop

You must be related to me!
I use a shower cap (one used to keep your wifes hair dry in the shower..why? Who the hell knows!) It slips over my radio/amp just incase it rains. I first made lowers (exactly like the ones they sell) for my Harley fairing, but I found them less effective as advertised. Back to the drawing board, I made air wings more like fork lowers to keep the updraft at bay and it works perfect.

It is a little quieter, I wanted a lot quieter actually, I would love a stock set that fits, I have a set from a C model, but they dont fit just right. I would have to do A LOT of modding, I may eventually. Just after my trip. The bike sounds really good, but, I am tired of the noise.
Thanks! Coop
