So, I have an 83 honda shadow vt500. After it has been warmed up from riding, the rpms seem to rise. I first noticed it while up shifting and then when I was stopped at a light. I took it home and put it in neutral and the rpms were really high, like if I had the choke fully applied. I cant tell exactly how high since my gauge is broken. Where do I start? any info will help, and thanks....

You have a loose connection between the carb and the engine and it is sucking air in..just tighten up the hose clamps on the rubber intake tubes..
