85 vt500 40 mpg d'oh

Hi All,
40MPG bad, so I checked out Clymers again. Been riding with Choke on, D'OH ! This morning bike is starting up with no or little throttle, Installed screen and spring in petcock, put the tiny hose on correct part of petcock (their is 2 places to put hose on), and blew out the ?pinhole vent on gas cap ? Now going to see what happens when bike gets hot, how does it run ? Tightened up everything cap and hose wise on cooling system and looks good, no water everywhere, etc.
also riding the piss out of it YAYAY YAY !
