[QUOTE=will_maxim;1322253]I had the same problem and bought this:
Kuryakyn License Plate Helmet Lock w/Mount - Universal I have this lock. Be careful with the bolts. They are not long enough to reach all the way through the existing plate mount. Buy some longer bolts and don't try to modify the existing (experience talking). Other than that it works as advertized.

I use a disc lock. Just fasten the helmet around the handlebars and use the disc lock to lock the two pieces together. That's only if I am going somewhere that I don't really want to bring my helmet inside, but if I go to a restaraunt or store to pick up a few things, I just carry it in with me.

$7 Walmart bike lock. Fits/stores around saddle bag stays. 4 digit combo makes retrieval easy. Cross country, I just don't seem to use it.
That still leaves the skull cap, gloves, and ear plugs inside to disappear. Murphy's Law: If you lay it down on the seat, it will blow off and scratch the visor. |

I have two relatively minor gripes with this lock. The first is that my plate is pretty low to the ground. I have to be careful about dropping the helmet when I lock it, because it can hit the ground. Second is having to carry a second key. My key ring is bulky as it is.
