Default Air Filter Cover/Upgrade/Modification?

Hi all,
I have a 2002 Honda Shadow ACE 750. When I ride the air filter cover is up against my lower leg and is a bit anoying. I am looking for somthing that I can put on a cold air intake like the K&N Air Filters. I have found pictures of what I want (90 degree ange pointing to the front) but nothing that will fit my bike.

This is what I am looking for, or similar

this is what mine looks like

Any help is greatly appriciated on where I can find one. Or if someone has already done this where did they get theirs from.

What about the KURYAKYN PRO SERIES HYPERCHARGER UPGRADE KIT? Just a suggestion.

Just asking, but what makes you think it won't fit? I think the mounting plates are universal within a few years up and down.

That is definatly an option, how much does it lower the profile or bring it forward?

I did not look further into the disasembly of the stock filter housing. After looking at the breakdown I see that it will fit based taking the whole housing off.

Found what i was looking for, after digging some more into the service manual I see that the main housing needs to be removed. Not a problem, and also see how the upgrade will fit. I have found what I am looking for here:

Amazon.com: Honda Shadow Spirit ACE 750 Spike Chrome Billet Aluminum Air Cleaner Kit: Automotive Amazon.com: Honda Shadow Spirit ACE 750 Spike Chrome Billet Aluminum Air Cleaner Kit: Automotive

Any comments on that is appriciated.

Now just to save some money up to buy it

Hey rich! Glad you found it. To answer your question about jetting the carbs, it most likely WILL have to be done. Jetting the carbs simply involves removing the tank, removing the carbs, removing the carb bowl (Under-side of carb) and exposing/replacing the jets.

As far as what SIZE you need, someone else will have to help with that. BUT After doing all of this, you will have a little more HP and a sweet-look!!

I ran the thunder mfg version of that spike intake, worked great for getting it out from under the knee but sucked holy hell in the rain.

You have a great point about the rain, never crossed my mind.

I think they were already jet'd as the previous owner put an aftermarket exhaust and if I remember right he said he had that done. I will confim with him. If he already did Jet them do you think they will they need to be done again?

Yes, it's very possible you could need to do it again. Think about it this way:

Pipes let air out, but the air IN stayed the same. Jet's are in the carburator (INtake) and the pipes affect jetting (less) than a filter.

More air IN through the filter, will work in conjunction with your pipes, allowing for increased flow from beginning to end. And more HP!

I don't own a 750, and don't know their temperment, but as a general rule, regetting is required with any intake mod.
