Yes, I have a service manual and yes, I read English. I used to turn wrenches, but as the years have gone by, I would prefer not.
Scooter has 6000 miles on it and is 6 years old, so probably orginal plugs. I have had the fuel tank part way off, but initially could not get the vent line off - probably didn't try hard enough. Easy to get fuel line off. Is there anything else attached to the fuel tank? I have read about the special wrenches for the plugs, so I know that. Do I have to use OEM plugs or are their suitable other brands? With the tank off, is it a straight forward job to change plugs, or are there other issues which may be a challange for someone with fat fingers and a lot of bad luck? Stealer service dept. wants $100 for the job! .

With 6000 miles your plugs are likely still good but might as well take them out. I would do so before buying new ones.
Tank has bolt in front and bolt behind, fuel line and vent tube. My vent tube pops off simply but I don't think you need to remove tank to remove plugs. Use a little dielectric grease on the spark plug porcelain when installing and the caps will slip off easily next time. I use OEM NGK DPR7EA-9 and they do a good job. G |

You get a box spanner in the toolkit, but I find any double ended box spanner will do then I fit a socket over the 'other' end and use my socket wrench to change the plugs, I can even use my torque wrench to tighten them to the recommended 10 ft lbs.

You shouldn't need to remove the tank to change spark plugs. The size is on the plugs you take out, just look at the plugs!
I remove mine every year to make sure they're running at the correct color, which tells you how your bike is tuned.

You will also need a 18mm THIN wall DEEP socket, or MC sprk plug tool. Tank stay in place, and there are 4, yes four, spark plugs at the end of the 4 heavy wires that exit from under the tank and end at the sides of the heads.

Well, since I had to go through what I thought was going to be aggravation of pulling them, I decided to change them anyway. Put in DPR8EA-9 . Well, should have taken G's advice. Exhaust side looked brand new. Intake side slightly tan, though both had open gaps. Since I had bought the plugs already, I went ahead and put them in, so at least I know when they are going in, so when I go back to OEM exhaust, I'll be able to "read" proper mixture. Thanks for advice. Appreciate it.
