Over here it has to be taken to a workshop with a mechanic capable of carrying out the work, the workshop has to stamp a document to show that work has been done.
so the burden of proof rests with the owner.. John.

Apparently you also get a sloppy job of putting the bike back together, found two wires that were left disconnected. Makes you wonder what else was missed.

I just had my 600 mile initial service done yesterday.
The owner's manual shows what should be done. The service manager had no idea about this and I had to show him. Basically, they changed the oil, filter & crush washer, inspected and tightened this and that, and checked valve clearances. The two things I complained about were written off as not being a problem. The mechanic's comment was "Valves within spec" and "Bike runs good". $20 for oil, $14 for filter, $1 for washer, $180 for 2 hours first service labor, $90 labor for valve adjustment, $24 for supplies. The whole initial service cost me $331.30 I don't feel good about the service or the price-gouging. That's why people call them "Stealerships". Parkway Cycle, Everett, MA Their repair order you sign authorizing the work says "I understand that I am responsible for damage that may occur during unloading or loading of my machine" and "storage at $100 per day after repairs are completed." Will I be back? I don't think so. Last edited by Harvey; 04-18-2012 at 09:13 AM. |

Mine was $245 and for a bonus had a oily hand print on my seat and two wires left unconnected. Those are two things that I found, makes you wonder what else they messed up on. There is another dealership nearby, I may try them in the future but oil and filter changes are now in my domain.

I've said this countless times before on this forum. Spend the money on a Honda factory manual. You will recoup the $60.00-$70.00 cost on the first service alone.

Whenever I buy a bike, I buy the factory manual. I save all receipts and they with the manual go with the bike when I sell it.
Whenver I buy a new vehicle, I let the dealer do the first service thinking that they know the bike best and that I would not have any warranty issues. I doubt I will bring one back to any dealer again for service as I have never been satisfied with any dealer service department. If I do the service myself, I know it was done and done right. I just don't do tires myself. |

I actually bought my 2012 Phantom used (had 210 miles on it), and the fluids were all changed prior to me picking the bike up. I now have about 1,000 miles on mine and am thinking about giving it another oil, filter, and drive oil change just to be sure everything is cleaned out. Any ideas on whether or not this is necessary, or should I hold off until 1,500 miles???
(P.S.) Sorry to piggy back on this post!
