Default Clutch master cylinder float

Can anyone tell me the consequenses of leaving the master cylinder float out..I understand it is supposed to help prevent air bubbles forming in the hydrolic fluid, but I can't really see how it works..unless it doesn't do anything until you run low on fluid..

Why would you leave it out? It's there for a reason but I have no idea why.

It bothers me that I don't know..If it's just there for people who don't check the level I don't want it.
