Default 1983 shadow VT750 clamp on air filter ?

I do not know if anybody tried this, but I am going to ask. Did anybody tried to use clamp on air filters on this bike? I thought that I saw a post with pic here somewhere in the past but I can not find it? All I can get for replacement is K & N filter from ebay that goes into the filter box.

It can be done, but it can tke some trial and error to get the jetting right. These bikes work better with the airbox intact. Try here, Honda Street Bike Air Filters, think the one for you is about $10.

I was hoping I would not have to re-jet. This option looks much better to me. Do you have any experience with these UNI filters? Thanx for the link bytheway.

So I just read their UNI FAQ site and they said that I will most likely have to re-jet my carbs

So I have just talk to Roger at Uni Filter and was told that their filter NU-4072 will work in my bike. It is listed for $9.95 and from what I heard about these filters they should be pretty good. Just thought that I share this info.

just a heads up if your bike is anything like my 84 vt500 the filters will cause you to pull in to much air at higher speeds no matter what you do. I have this on mine I put some small cups over the filters but if the wind picks up it still cause a very lean condition. I am going to have to figure out something else. I wish you the best of luck just wanted to let you know my experiences

Thanx for the heads up - appreciate it. Are u talking about the clamp on filters or the UNI filter that would be in the air box. If u are talking about those clamp on ones I can see the issue - on the other hand my father in law has them on his 1100cc Yamaha cruiser and no issue. Since our bikes are so similar I will take your word for it.

Awesome. Thank you guys. You do have to oil these filters - right? Any specific oil you guys use?
