Default Powder Coating Upper Forks

Has anyone tried painting the upper forks? I'm so friggin' tired of chrome. It would probably be better just to upgrade the suspension with something already painted, but I'm probably taking a mess of stuff to be powder coated anyway after I rebuild my engine.

I'm afraid that the clamps might scuff up the paint on installation not to mention the oil seal/dust seal might not fit right. Any thoughts?

I know "Dcocch" painted his upper forks and the member "Aced It" painted his rims. Both of them used PlastiDip with nice results.... the good thing is that if you don't like the paint job, you can peel it off.

For sure, not going to work.
Powder coating is thick enough that the clamps/seals won't sit properly. Further, powder is not even close to being durable enough to be used on the sliding part of the forks.

Use it on the lowers, no problem. But not on a friction surface.

It wont work on the sliding/smooth part of the fork, however if you have the covers like Piner has in his sig, you can paint/powder those.
Another options is the fork boots.

Like Piner said, I used plastidip on my fork covers. It's held up very well...over 700miles with only a couple nicks that can easily be touched up.

Nope, the fork tubes are "hard chromed" its a more durable finish than a typical chrome or black chrome.

Its not just the seals sliding on the tubes, the bushings are taking the load of the bike and slide along the tubes all the time.

Either live with it, or cover it up with covers or those ugly ass stupid fork boots.
