Possible Stator Issues
Hi everyone, I'm new to the motorcycle community having just bought my first bike (1985 Honda Shadow VT700c) very recently. I bought the bike knowing that it had a few problems. I replaced the ignition switch, replaced the voltage rectifier/regulator, bought a new battery, cleaned the carbs, and finally got the bike running on Sunday of last week. I ended up riding a little bit throughout the week, but nothing substantial at all, just getting use to the mechanics of the bike. Yesterday was my first day out on the open road and all went well. However, today when I decided to go for a ride, shortly after leaving, my bike died. It would not start again due to a dead battery. I've noticed a few conversations about the stator wire being a problem on this particular bike from topics on HondaShadow.net. Does anyone have any suggestions that I am most likely unaware of due to lack of experience? Any help would be inexpressibly appreciated.
