Default Rear wheel won't come off....

... so got 83 vt750 and I was going to remove the rear gas tank, but first you have to take the rear wheel out. I can not for the life of me loosen the 22mm nut at the end. I have a socket with driver on it and it just slowly turns but it does not look like it is coming off. I do not want to demage the spindle or the nut so I stopped. Is this supposed be so hard to get it off or is there a trick to it? The manual is clear, but I thought I ask the gurus anyway. Thanx

Do you have a wrench on the other end of the bolt? it is a through bolt.

there is no head on the other end. Just hole thru the spindle, but that hole does not move at all so I am wondering if I am just about to break the spindle.

I'll quit guessing on stuff I don't have first-hand knowledge of.
I doubt you could break the spindle with the leverage on a standard wrench, unless ya jumpin on a 4' cheater bar attached to a 18" breaker bar?

Keep turning the nut, you won`t break the "spindle"/axle/bolt...
IF it turns you can put a phillips screwdriver (+) through it to hold it...
Good Luck,

No, no cheater bar here, just 18" breaker bar.

You were right. Somebody before me screw-up the threads so it was hard to turn, but I got it out. Will fix the axle tmrw in the shop.
