I have a 86 vt700 and i wish my reserve was that easy to come off

We just did a two page discussion on cleaning out fuel tanks last week, I found out about the vinegar trick from it...

.....I am sorry if this was a repeat, but I did a search and did not find much of a useful info on it. I got my answer thou now so we can leave this thread alone. On the other hand let's see if we can stretch it to 3 pages

Just did this with my 83 750 last spring. White vinegar works for light rust/sludge really well. Make sure you run some baking soda and warm water through the tank to neutralize the vinegar then rinse with soapy water then rubbing alcohol to dry up the water then a few rinses with gas. Once the fuel runs through clean, your done.

If bad rust, use a product called evaporust, from auto parts store. Get it in bike right away and fill it with gas or it will flash rust.
