Default How to clean reserve tank...

..the bike was sitting for 10 years with main tank empty, but the reserve tank had about a liter of old gas in it that I managed to get out. No sludge or rust just nasty old gas. I would like to clean it to make sure I do not plug the fuel filter, but not so sure how to go about it. Garden hose ? Vinegar ? Any ideas ?

i would let it soak in kerosine for a while, then swish it out with some new gas.

Just a thought....I'm sure someone has a much better answer than me

I have the 84 700, and the reserve is a pain to get out. If it were easy I would take it out and clean it...lol

Remove the petcock, that'll make it easier to empty the reserve.

OK guys, lets' make this clear. The tank is out no lines on it, no petcock. I just want to know what product to use to clean the inside. Thank you.

No rust; no sludge: just use a litre vinegar (mild acid) seal the tank and shake and let sit for a day on the reserve side or if there is a lot of gum use muratic acid.

Well, you have to take the rear wheel off, remove part of a fender and then she just drops down. Was not too bad.
