Default Seat Security - Mine is a Mustang

Just dropped $400 smackers on a one piece mustang seat. I'm not sure if it's a real fear but I'm concerned about it getting ripped off. With it literally taking 5 minutes to install, it should take much less to remove. What's my best security option for keeping my seat on my bike. It's only a 6mm nut holding it on.

Well, if I paid that much for a seat...

I'd take it off and sit on it everywhere I went...work, the diner, the park, the beach. That way no would ever take it and I'd always have a comfortable spot for my ass.

Just a suggestion...

It is the seat on a MOTORCYCLE. Since it is a given that there is NO way short of a LOCKED garage to secure a motorcycle. Why would you think there is a way to secure PARTS of a motorcycle. heck even the locked garage is only secured against Honest people. I suppes you could weld the seat in place, but that might make maintenance difficult.

Get some safety wire and wire it to the frame, with about 6 inches of slack to spare, so you can push it out of the way for service work.
Not 100% foolproof, but it'll make you feel better.

I've never heard of someone having their seat stolen. On my bike you can't get the Mustang seat off without removing the pad from the sissy bar so at least that's three more nuts they would have to remove. Bottom line if someone decides they want to steal your seat, as unlikely as that is, there's not much you can do to prevent it that wouldn't also make it a pain in the ass for you to remove it for maintenance.

Sell the bike, no more seat to worry about! But really, you are looking into this way, way to deep. Enjoy your ride! Quit worrying about the little things.
