Default 2000 Shadow Spirit 1100 VT1100C Jugs/Tranny

Ok I ride a VT1100C I bought her new in 2001 and just rolled over 63000 miles yesterday. She is a great bike and I have kept up with all maintenance replacing all needed components over the years In the last 2 seasons I have rebuilt the carbs with new slides, replaced the final drive and spider gear. New stator and rectifier and a new clutch. New Roadblaster pipes and Kuryakin iso pegs front and back. I became disabled in 2008 and gained some weight I mean like 100 lbs. I feel like I need a little more power to get me down the road. I thought I was going to trade up to a VTX1300 or 1800 but it just seems no bike fits me like mine does and I want to keep her. So since I am keeping her i am sending her in for paint at Henleys here in Indy.

About Henley’s Kustom Painting

My question is this. What can I do to increase the performance of my bike? I have heard that there is a 6 speed transmission available but that it is really pricey. I am also considering having it bored out like maybe 30 over, also are there better performance pistons ect.? Basically what can I do that wont mess up the reliability or otherwise compromise the bike while at the same time boosting performance to equal a 1300 or so. If I were to change motors could I squeeze a 1300 or 1800 motor into my frame?

Buy a bigger bike. Maybe look at OTHER than a HONDA. There is NOTHING you can do that will achieve more than a 5%-10% increase in power, without dumping at least the value of the bike in MAJOR motor modification. Going 30 over will NOT do it, 1-2HP at best. There are NO commercially available pistons that will help to increase power, even the Honda oversize pistons are hard to find. Although my motor is 2mm over bored, SLEEVES, to 1150cc, the pistons I have were handmade one offs and the heads are custom machined from factory blank castings. But then the people who did my motor had/have special access to Honda Racing R&D engineers and parts. There was over $5000 worth of labor, alone, put into my motor, not including parts and materials. I was fortunate to get the work for free, as Bike was part of a R&D project. This does get power in the range of a 1300 or 1800 vtx, without the wieght. But you could do the same with a Sportster for 1/2 the cost, and have replacement parts available.

How much did you weight before? I am a good chunk over 300lbs and my 1100 pulls me along just fine with 66000 on the clock. I am also pulling hard bags. Last year she took me 6000 uninterrupted Km to the east coast and back. I could stand to lose a few lbs but she carries me just fine.
