Hey guys I have a 2002 shadow spirit 750.
It has the regular drag bars on it and i was thinking of putting some standard monkey bars (not ape hangers) but was curious if there was enough slack on the lines to accomplish this goal without extensions. has anyone done this? thanks. I should also note i have 1.5" fork extensions on the front, not sure if it makes a difference.

I have an 03 Spirit 750 and the drag bars quickly became a "drag" for me. With the drag bars, you are in sort of a semi sport-bike riding position and every bump killed my spine.
I replaced them with the bars from an 07 750C2. They are several inches taller, about an inch wider and a few inches closer to the rider. There is a link here somewhere with the dimensions of the various handlebars if you want something taller, wider or with more pullback. I just sat on an 07 750C2 and they seemed comfortable to me. The electrical cables from the headlight bucket have enough slack for these bars. If you re-route the cables behind the forks the throttle and clutch cables might be long enough but you will still need to lengthen the front brake hose. I wanted to keep the cables routed in the original locations in front of the forks. My throttle cables and front brake hose did not reach. The clutch cable was borderline. I ended up ordering 4" longer throttle and clutch cables and a longer front brake hose. I should have ordered them just 2" longer but I didn't want to have to order special length cables twice. The worst part was bleeding the front brakes once the brake hose was swapped out. The bike is much more comfortable to ride since the change. Ride safe!

Stock cables should work for up to 4-6" of additional rise, routing may require altering. But it's really a mute point since after 10 years your cables are close to needing to be changed anyway.
