So I just opened up the thermostat housing were the thermostat supposed to be and guess what - no thermostat at all
I did a quick search to find one, but not much luck. Does anybody knows the part number for this bike and where to get one? Fingers crossed they will ship to Canada. Thank you guys.

As you opened the housing you might as well remove it and clean it out, get rid of all that gunk inside, then take it to your local bike shop..if they haven't got a thermostat that fits in stock they will get you one in a day or two.

yeah...local bike shop is useless and they will charge arm and a leg. What if I run it without it? I am not so sure why the previous owner took it out. It was pretty gunk up so I got rid off all I could. Just makes me wander what is in the system were I can not get. Thanks John

Don't run without it, you've done most of the work flush out as much as you can with a garden hose look up the thermostat part number on google and fill with coolant..you can't mess about with the cooling system on these bikes or you may have to replace the waterpump and that is not a fun job.

I'll take your word for it. the bike was sitting for 10 years in the bsmt. I hope the pump is not **** already. How can I tell ? I think I found a guy in US who can hook me up with new stat and BUNA gasket for 18 bux+shipping. Alltogether 27 bux.

10 years is a long time for a part to sit in rusty water, but you may be lucky..while you are waiting for the new thermostat to arrive flush the thing out as I said with a hose until clean water comes out, then flush it some more, then drain it as the manual says, fit the new thermostat, test the fan, and fill with the correct coolant..then start the engine..one sign is if coolant leaks from the small hole at the bottom of the waterpump..the other is to place the handle of a large flat blade screwdriver to one ear and the blade to the body of the pump and listen for the noise of the rotor and the water...it can be quite loud..
