Default Wish Honda would make a top end kit like HD for the 750.

Harley has the top end kit to convert an 883 Sportster to a 1200cc. Wouldn't it be nice if Honda had the same thing for the Shadow 750s? You could start out with your 750 Shadow, tweak and personalize it, and when you started wanting a bit more muscle you could move up the displacement a good bit and still keep the bike you know and love. Especially since Honda did away with the 1100 Shadows. I'm not sure what Honda was thinking when they scrapped the Shadow series in 1100cc. For some that is just the right size bike in a Shadow format for their biking needs.

I love my bike and will gradually do some more tweaks and additions. It rides and handles well and it looks good. Sometimes I'd like a bit more under the tank. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to get the bike tricked out just the way you want it, then be able to boost the engine size and keep on riding.

For the guy or gal who likes a HD Sportster, but can either only afford the 883 at first or wants to start out with a little less engine on the little Sportser frame, it's nice they can move up to a 1200 by switching out the top end with the jug kit.

Since it's a new bike I also have five years of payments so trading it in for something more powerful anytime before the next three years isn't really an option.

I saw all the poor little, used Shadows sitting at the place I got my services done that people traded in for bigger displacement bikes after they quickly outgrew them. Powerwise, not necessarily size wise. And I think to myself, if you could just up the displacement with a jug kit a lot of those bikes would be racking up a lot more miles instead of waiting for beginning/returning riders who will shortly thereafter want more juice.

Just something I've been thinking of and curious if anyone else felt similar. I know I'd love my Aero for the long term if I could turn it into a 1100-1200cc displacement on down the line. Style, handling, and some extra rip for those days I want to feel the pull.

Granted, looking under the tank there just may not be enough room for larger jugs.

I've thought something similar. I'd like a get a bit more juice outta mine too, now that i have 5k miles under my belt.

I was advised that an intake, and rejet would help some, but nothing earth shattering. I'd love to hear guys on here who have done that chime in.

I've tried to find someone that would make a set of cams for my Shadow. No luck yet. Intake, Exhaust and Fuel Management is about where it ends..

Not exactly what you're looking for, but there is a top end performance upgrade kit available for VT-750's from AFT Customs.

Its not hard to up the power on the 750, get a custom cam, some high compression pistons and get some more timing. That will wake up the 750 and a custom cam is not expensive.
Custom camshaft grinding from American Custom Cam - camshaft repair, cam grinding

I can find 50 custom cam grinders so that is the easy part, the piston can be expensive but not to bad and the timing is easy. You would have to re-jet the carbs or if your injected you would have to have a new map made for your bike.

All in all not to bad and you will get more power out of the 750.

Good to know there are some options down the road to keep the 750 interesting. Thanks for the links.

Something else to consider..I have a VT700 and a VT1100..the 1100 looks impressive but the 700 out performs it in every way, more gears, better handling, higher top speed..but it looks like a toy compared to the 1100..

Sell the 750 and buy a Sporty or other aircooled V2, about the same $$ envolved. Water pumper motors tend to NOT be cost affective to do cylinder uprades on, especially when OHC is part of the deal. Yeah you can get some slightly fatter plungers, but after that the $$ really get up there.

That would be nice, especially since I plan to keep my bike until I can afford to pay cash for a new one.
