How to disassemble petcock on 02 shadow 750 ACE?? I believe when the petcock is on the off position, fuel still gets by which causes a gasoline smell in my oil. If i blow on the thingy i can hear air still coming out. Any idea how to open it up? I really dont wanna buy a brand new one. Also does anyone know the part number on the filter that goes on that stem? I'm gonna go to the honda dealership to get a new one because the old one is all messed up.

The factory petcocks or not serviceable, they're throw-a way's; you have to buy a new one.
If you have to buy a new one, might as well go with a Pingel. They look nice, flow better and can be rebuilt down the road if need be...........

you have to blow on the outlet side to determin if it is sealing on not. should not have any flow in the off and on position.
if you blow in the inlet pipe, regaurdless of the on-off-res position, you will always have flow through res opening.

I've taken mine apart (00 750 ACE). Same petcock as yours. I used a couple of SHORT sheet metal screws to put it back together (and some Permatex #2). Inside these, is a ball and spring. If you blow into the outlet, it will let flow-by. Mine was full of "silt" and wouldn't function properly. I did get it serviceable again but wound up having to replace it eventually. They run just over $50.

I called the honda dealership today in hungtington beach and they said it was $80 and the screen was an extra $15 and the O-ring is an extra $5. Might as well go for the pingel right?
