So what the mechanic is really saying is he did not clean the carbs at least did not take them off/apart. And your new plugs are black and wet. Check air filter is good. You could try the seafoam which is not as harsh as the B12. I still think for $400 the mech should have cleaned carbs.

Agree with above. If he cleaned them like he said, there would be nothing to work loose. He is taking you to the cleaners!

Me too! Especially since that is the whole reason I took the bike in to begin with! I did call them today and told them the problem still remained and it STILL sounds like a carburetor issue; which doesn't make sense since they said they cleaned and tuned it. He said to bring it back in and they would look it all over again. And that "maybe running it knocked some sediment loose" .... We will see what happens in a few days I guess.

Well I called the shop on thursday to see if there was any progress on the bike (haven't heard from them and they have had my shadow for 2 weeks!). I was told "no, dave should be able to get to it tomorrow. He has been fighting fires all week so he hasn't had time to look at it yet.." Soooo business just stops because there are fires? Not like there's not other mechanics in the shop either..

Anyway, I did get a call today saying the culprit was a vacuum piston in the carburetor. Run about 80 bucks. I asked if I was going to be charged labor and he told me there would be no labor since they should have caught it the first time. Nice of him, but I still won't ever be going back! Too bad i'm not reimbursed for the different carb cleaners I was told should fix the problem with a few tanks..

I would deducted the cost of the B-12 he told you to use and get the failed part he replaced thats $80.00 . I'm betting they wont have it to give you.
