Hi,
the front brake on my 87 vt700c sticking. could this be something simple or do I need to get it to a shop to fix? the brake is sticking, i.e staying applied. just slightly. thanks in advance. Last edited by wwonka; 07-10-2012 at 08:30 PM. Reason: added more info |

a lil more info would be helpful. and the fix could be either. Have you done anything recently to the brakes? I assume sticking you mean the brake is dragging, staying applied or do you mean the lever is sticking. Like I said, you need to be more specific.

Take a shoe lace and clean the piston in the caliper. No need to take the brake apart to do this. Just fish the lace around the piston and use a shoe shine/polishing type action. Use some brake cleaner on the lace. If this doesn't work you might need to pull the caliper off and give it a good cleaning and/or rebuild it. Not a real hard job. Good luck, keep us posted!
