Is the temp light suppose to turn on when you first turn the ignition on?
Just wondering if this is working correctly because both the oil and stand light come on at first and shut off but the temp light does nothing. Just trying to figure out all my cooling system issues. Water pump is leaking, heat light appears to do nothing, and I havnt heard my fan kick on this whole summer. Bike don't seem to be over heating, never stalls and never has power loss... But I have a feeling something is going on. Maybe a clogged line or bad switch on the fan. Sent from my iPod touch using MO Free

Thanks guys! That eliminates one concern I have. So now I'm down to needing water pump and maybe the fan switch. I'll let it idle for a bit to see if the fan comes on to determine that issue.
Can't believe I have to pull the motor to replace water pump... Boo Sent from my iPod touch using MO Free

Pull the wire off the thermal fan switch and ground it to the frame it should come on. If it doesn't then you have a bad fan or blown fuse. The fan has it's own fuse. I would think if your water pump was toasted you would be hearing a clunking while the engine is going and you would over heat with no coolant going through the engine.
