Default 97 1100 ace somethings killing battery

I need a little help. My 97 ace 1100 is eating batteries. I first replace my old battery with a new gel battery (gone through 3 gel batteries in a year and half) and removed my leds and anything that might draw power. I have had it check professionally 2 times everything checked good. The system is charging and they did not see anything out of the normal. I dont know what to check or what to do. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

give us alittle more info, when you say "eating batteries" what do you mean? What voltage is it putting out? And are you using quality brand of batteries like Yuasa?

Buy a cheap multimeter..

measure the battery voltage, expect 13v dc

start the engine measure the battery voltage with the engine at idle expect 13v dc

measure the battery voltage at 5k revs expect 14v dc

now repeat the above measurements with the meter connected between the + pole of the battery and the frame, expect exactly the same voltages..

If any of the above measurements are wrong list them here and someone will soon tell you what is the cause.

Perhaps the battery is not being drained! Maybe it's your charging system that's not charging it enough. The stators and regulators are not very good quality in the Shadows.
Those LED lights are not draing our battery unless there is a short in the system. LEDs take alot less juice then conventional bulbs do anyway.

i have used Batteries plus batteries and the regulator has been replaced when this problem started. As far as checking the voltage i dont have a volt meter but i can get one and the battery is so dead i cant even start it.

There really are only 3 things that can be happening:

1) Too much current is being drawn OUT of the battery, either from a short or too many added accessories OR from an phantom drain when it's off.

2) Not enough charging when it's running.

3) A connection that is intermittant.

You might want to do a search for "yellow" and read up on the charred stator wire connectors.

You need that meter......so you can make a series of tests every couple of days. If all of the voltage tests come up right, the only thing left is a series of bad batterys......which is unlikely but not impossible.

Do you have an external battery charger ?
New batterys MUST be fully charged before being put into service.
If they aren't, some types will slowly die over time as the bike system even when working right might never get it up to a really full charge.

Lastly, how often and how far is the bike ridden, on average.

Did you replace the regulator yourself? if someone else did it, they could have done it wrong, also I hope they didnt put another shadow regulator in there, you can upgrade to mosfet for about the same cost.

.
The 3 yellow wire plug/connector under your seat. This shorts out due to bad connection. A MC bad engineering flaw that alot metric manufactured bikes have.

The regulator was replace by a professional. The batteries where fully charged and i have had the yellow wires check and they were fine. I had a mechanic check the voltage while the bike is running and it was charging. He said evrything seemed fine and the voltages where correct. I have a honda sevice manual that was our guide. i only ride it one mayber two times every other week but I have a trickle charger on it. I left it unhooked and it went dead within 2 weeks.

Well I can't see how any of us can help you if you have a professional and a mechanic working on it and they can't sort it out..I think most of us give advice to people who are doing the work themselves so the we know how things were done and can advise further..like for instance was the stator check visual or electrical, but you can't answer questions about stuff you haven't done..
