Default Rear tire is almost touching fender

My rear tire is so close(about 1/4'') to the fender on the right(brake) side and there is lots of space on the left(shaft side) Is this normal?

You may have the spacers out of their correct location. on my '06 750 spirit, one is 'T' shaped and the smaller in fits into the drum about 1/4" on the left(chain) side. On the right side is a washer about 3/8" wide .

If your wheel is too far to the right it will throw your chain (if thats what is on there) out of alignment

take the wheel off, clean all the parts and while you are doing this check or change the brake shoes and grease the splines..then look up the fiche of the parts list on Google and make sure you have everything listed and reassemble it the same as the fiche.

In future take photos of everything you dissassemble

John.

I think driving on the wrong side of the road gives "you guys" left-handed logic too.

First, I doubt that HE has ever dis-assembled the rear axle himself or likely he wouldn't be asking the question the way he is.

Then, how about finding a parts fiche FIRST and checking the placement of everything. If it is right already, no need to take it all apart.......right ??

Someone with the same model bike should be along shortly to give you the information that you need.....but the "look it up" advice is good too.

What size tire is on there ?

It seams the real issue is that, we colonialists, have pretty much left logical thinking behind.
As they say pictures are worth a thousand words. Parts fiche and manuals are exactly how I learned to fix and tune bikes. Been fixing my own stuff for over 40 years, I am 46. There is no better way to learn that to just take the damn wheel off.

Well, actually there IS a better way:
Having someone who already knows give you some instructions or a few pointers first........and then take the damn thing off.

And that assumes that the person in question WANTS to learn all the details in the first place.

Sometimes a question is JUST a question !!
