Default 06 VLX 600 Clutch question

Hey guys, I have a question about my clutch. The bike has less than 4k miles on it, but I did wipe out awhile back and mess up the adjuster nut on the clutch perch. 06 VLX 600 Clutch question-imageuploadedbymo-free1345249650.900068.jpg
I have the parts, but just haven't had time to replace them yet. So what I am experiencing is at take off, at the very end of the friction zone it feels like something is slipping just a bit. It's kind of weird. I also just out new tires on it, but I never romp on it either. Just a normal smooth take off, but right at the end of the clutch it feels like something slips. It's almost what I would imagine it would feel like if the tire were to slip on the rim about 1/4 revolution. Any ideas what this could be? Do I need to get the new adjuster nut on there and tighten it up? I'm still really new to this so I have no idea. Thanks in advance!

Should really get that takin care of first, did this start after the drop?
do you have any free play in the cable, did you check the engine oil level?
is the cable binding?

Engine oil is fine...cable doesn't seem to be binding. Didn't really notice it until the new tires went on less than 100 miles ago.

I am a little worried I might have my chain to tight. Could that cause this?

I would check the cable freeplay, the chain freeplay, make sure the axles tight, the adusters are properly aligned and aduster lock nut tight, swing arm bearings.

Ok...the manual calls for an inch of free play in the chain. I have that, but I have to press really hard on the chain to get to an inch. Is that how your supposed to set it or should it be easy to move the chain to the inch mark? I know the axles and the nut are tight and would think the swing arm bearing would be bad with such low milage.

First, replace the busted parts. Next, is your oil the correct oil for a wet clutch set up?

Hey by the way, I wanted to thank you guys. You were the only two who shared ideas. I'm really new to working on bikes and I tend to be a little OCD over stuff like this which is why I was concerned I might have my chain to tight. I am always trying to get things just right instead just doing it. So thanks!
