Did you remove anything else from inside the engine, beside the carburetors?
Did you open the side covers? Did you remove the transmission axle to the rear wheel? Even if temporarily? Was the bike like that when you bought it? Did you ever run that engine before you rebuilt the carbs? |

The only thing I've done thus far is remove and rebuild the carbs. I did run it before removing them and that's how they acted beforehand as well.... Carb rebuild was my attempt to rectify the situation. Unfortunately as you see it didn't work

Mine does that in 5th gear when I have to much of a load or when no weight on the rear tire. Grab the drive shaft cover and try to feel where the clacking is coming from. I'm assuming since its drive shaft driven it has some sort of universal joint or some sort of dampening bushing on the shaft itself that may be wore out. Do you have the Honda dealer mechanics service manual, if not i do and can email you a digital copy. Private message me

Looks like you have two different problems.
One is probably fuel related. The other looks like there is some sort of slippage on the gears or on the final drive. Regarding the lack of response to the throttle, it may be the pilot screw. In what position is it? How many turns from the all in is it? Regarding the gear noise, does it ever do that noise when in neutral? If not, can you remove the final drive shaft? To do that you'll have to remove the rear wheel, the left rear suspension and the final drive assembly. Check the Honda manual on how to do that. It's a very simple process. Then, with the shaft removed, see if you can go trough the gears without that noise. Check the shaft end for wear. If the noise shows up even in neutral, then you have to check the trannie. Maybe the PO disassembled it and missed something.

I believe after I tapped them out i turned them both to 3 1/2. One was completely seated and the other was 5 turns out but again, they were still untapped so I have no clue how that was and why nothing would be different at all after altering them.
