The fuel pump may be discarded if you manage to get the fuel in the carbs by gravity.
The blinkers relay may be discarded if you decide not to have blinkers. You may install led blinkers that do not require a big relay to work.
You must have the CDI because that's the only way the engine will work.
You may use air filters directly attached to the carburaters and discard the air box. That will give you a lot of space, if you have one, that is.
+1 on removing the air-filter box!

You could also get rid of the secondary fuel tank. Obviously you'll have to fill up with fuel more often but that will free up a lot of room too.

Wait so how would the air filter get taken care of? Because I would most definitely be willing to do that. Not so sure about going gravity fed, and sans reserve tank would likely be a no-go.

And I dont have blinkers at the moment but I do intend to add some with the rebuild.. Led would be entirely viable as long as I can get it in an old school post war look!

First off, definitely going to go that route... It'll give me space for the cdi boxes at least!
Secondly I ran into this http://jbmindustries.com/KeihinVGinstructions.html
On that same thread... Do you guys think this would work as a replacement to my messed up carb?! Cause that'd be a freaking godsend!

Looks like HippoDaddy an at least one other member have given them a shot? May be my best bet because 20 is a lot easier to swallow with all the other work I've got to do

Those diaphragms are like 100US$ a pop, if ordered from the dealership. I know because I bought a pair. If I had known of the existence of that repair kit, I would have certainly tried it.

Changing the whole air intake system might force you to rejet your carbs.

Yes they work, I looked at your pics and it looks like you have the metal slides like mine, BUT VERIFY before ordering. If they are metal slides, you will need the K-72-S diaphragms. If you need help, I can walk you through the process, or you can ship the carbs to me and I can change them for you. I need the whole carb, because the slide and diaphragms has to be installed a certain way to line up correctly.

There is one here:
Honda Vt700c Shadow 1984 Usa Carburetor Components - schematic partsfiche

This is an European store. I'm sure you can find it in the US also, maybe from the dealer.
These are 129€, almost 50% more than the VT750 ones. Ouch!!!
