Honda are well known for changing everything on the same model bike from one year to the next, I guess I was lucky getting the '92 model as far as the pushrod seal is concerned..I'm not so lucky getting something to undo the clutch centre locknut..

my update finally is that I redid the clutch slave with the kit and bled the clutch...pretty easy job, but unfortunately is still leaks a little so looks like I'm ordering the crankcase cover gasket and the oil seal and tearing into it (my oil seal unfortunately, is not visible from the outside like the John's)...not too upset as the clutch lever seems much nicer now unless thats just my mind telling me that...guess I'll go at the other gaskets in there as well although I can't find a starter cover gasket anywhere...also, everywhere I get parts from takes like 5 to 7 days to get here...anyone have a lead on a quicker place to order parts from...

just finished up the push rod oil seal inside the crankcase as well as the gear shift rod seal...what a pain in the butt to replace a couple of $5 seals (about 6 hours)...the worst part as warned by you guys was getting the old crankcase housing gasket off and cleaned up...unfortunately, I can't try it out yet as I drained all the gas yesterday and haven't put the tanks back together...I'm trying to find a replacement hose that connects the two gas tanks as mine is not sealing up and the connection to the secondary tank...thats like a one inch diameter fuel line...fingers crossed though on the oil leak repair!

Good work lee. It's a pain, but oddly satisfying when you can do fixes like this yourself.

On parts, I usually use bikebandit.com. I've found them to be reasonable, and I can get most any OEM part I need (gaskets, bolts, seals, etc...).

I couldn't imagine how much the labor alone would have been at the shops around here or how good of a job they would have done scraping off the old gasket, but took it for a nice ride yesterday and parked it in the garage on top of a new white shelving board and no drips or anything anywhere....so, knock on wood, hope that issue is resolved! pretty sure it was the push rod oil seal. As far as the gas line hose connecting the two tanks I found some 3/4" on ebay for $5 a foot...nothing local anywhere in that size.

My 86 vt1100 just started leaking, I believe oil, from the pushrod. I pulled the clutch slave, started the bike and oil steadily came out from the pushrod. How would replace the seal?

Take a photo of where the pushrod sticks out and post it here, you may be one of the lucky ones with the pushrod seal on the outside, if you are just read back on this thread, if the seal is inside you still need to read the thread..
