Default Finally starting my 1983 bobber build

this bike needs a ton of work, i will be modifying everything on this bike. time to start with the frame, i just wanted to check to make sure this is worth fixing, id hate to blow 20 percent of my restoration budget on a new frame. in addition to a few tiny rust holes elsewear, the engine mounting bracket seems to be kinking the frame, but it may just come that way. i got got the metalworking know how, let me know what you all think, and upon discovery of rust water in the frame, i have decided to weld every gap and space, to seal it off from water and to ad additional strength.

I think for the money you will spend on fixing some of that you can just sell it for parts and get a better project bike.

That usually indicates a bent frame. I would think twice about using that frame.

If you've got the engine and everything else, and it all runs, if it were me I'd go about building a new frame - Honda frames are crap at the best of times. I would have gone down that route with the 1100 I'm doing if it had been any worse than it is.

If you've got metalwork experience, why not get a jig together and have a got at a new frame - it really doesn't cost much to do it yourself, just in time.

i thought about it being bent but it actuallty looks really straight. the crack does seem to indicate a separation however the bracket on the lower portion of the picture is perfectly straight with welds on both sides of the gap. regarding the frames being crap, im starting to believe it, ive seen some better welds on a bicycle lol.

That is a lot of rust..and in my opinion, you can never really get rid of it completely...it gets in nooks and crannys and is like a parasite, add that with the kink in the frame, I think I'd either build or buy another frame...good luck
