I recently used this product because of crud in my gas tank:
Kreem Fuel Tank Liner Combo Pack - Chaparral Motorsports Now the tank builds up pressure which is released when i open the gas tank. And it does not burb when i am adding gas like it use to. I have tried shoving a coat hanger up the breathing valve and i just hit a solid object. Any ideas? 03 spirit 750 Thanks for looking |

A coat hanger is probably going to be too stiff to make it around the bends in the vent tube, unless it's a really cheap coat hanger. Maybe try a length of light guage brazzing rod.....sharpen the end/cut small teeth on whatever you find that will go all the way in.
The only choice you have is to find something that will go thru the built up kreem in the tank end of the vent tube. You MUST clear the tube.

I've used the Kreem combo before but it was on a 1980 Yamaha XJ650 I restored. Worked great, didn't run in to this issue. I'm assuming you removed the petcock before adding the coating right, and used a plug or cover to close the holes for the petcock? also, did you put the fuel cap back on after putting the white coating in? did you make sure to get everything you could out of the fuel tank before using the product? what are you calling a breather valve? I looked at the breakdown of the tank and all I see as far as openings in the tank are the filler cap (which should vent under pressure) and the petcock assembly. Not trying to play 21 questions, just trying to eliminate possibilities.

I agree with gat. If the tank can't breathe, it wont be able to supply enough fuel and won't run right until its taken care of. Was the tank on an 03' model bike that rusted that it needed Kreemed? I guess if it was left without much fuel for an extended period of time, it could very well happen. If it wasn't rusted, no offense (I know it's already been done), but I would have tried to flush the tank first before using Kreem. I hope you're able to get it straightened out though.

okay. that cleared that up. I still agree with gat. Find something and small and flexible (but not overly so that it will just wad up) enough to get up through there and clean the the excess Kreem out. That is definitely some messy stuff to deal with.

Try some bailing wire or something thiner like that, its not a straight vent tube, if you absolutly cant get it open, get a fuel cap for a 99 to 07 VLX, they are vented and will fit. 50.00 at powersports plus, and you may be able to get 5% off using promo code - meetsister, sometimes it works, some times it dont, good luck.
