Default float bowl gasket

Any pointers while i'm putting a new float bowl gasket in the carb ? I'm hoping this will fix the slow gas leak I've had from the carb. The old gasket was dry and took very little effort to pull and snap apart.

OK replacing the float bowl gasket fixed the gas leak..

BUT!!, new problem.

Started it up as normal, but when i pushed the choke in all the way the bike died. WTF ?? All I did was take the carb off so i could open the float bowl chamber, checked the float valve while i was in there, changed the gasket, and put it all back together.

Anyways so this was at like 3am, it's cold and late obviously so I didn't wanna have the bike running anymore (townhouses), so I'll wait til the morning.

The one thing i did notice is that the choke knob seems to pull out a little further than it used to. Is this goona be as simple as adjusting it just past the knob ?

Sleep time. I look forward to anyones input!

I would just take it off again and check to make sure everything is hooked up properly, if that doesnt solve it then you might need to take the bowl back off and measure your float height to see if it is in spec and and make sure your jets are seated. Im no expert though.

The choke adjuster didn't have enough tension, so the knob was pulling way out and the bike was dieing when pushed in all the way, so thats fixed. But its now hesitating when i initially give it gas. Is that related to the the float ? Im also curious how to adjust the level if it actually needs adjusting.

from what I understand, everything is effected by the float level How To Set Your Motorcycle Carburetor Float Level (more commentary).
