you wont gain any power. most likely you will lose power if you don't do anything with fuel and air also

Well you will allow more air out than what the bike is taking in to mix fuel etc. Without baffles, with jets, with the right mixture it will move your torque band more towards the upper rpm range than the mid to low it is at with baffles.

We talking stock pipes or aftermarket. Eitherway it will be louder. if stock pipes might cause lean enough condition to need adjustment. If Amarket, probably will not affect tuning.

If only the baffles are removed on your vlx, you might get away with only having to adjust the a/f screw to get rid of any popping or backfiring on deceleration. That's all I had to do. If you fiddle around and change anything on the air filter you will likely need to re-jet the carb too.

Actually, after the motor, the exhaust is the main restriction to the amount intake air flow. If you remove the baffles, intake flow Goes UP. Doesn't create vaccum just a bigger hole for the air to exit through. More air flow often means you'll need to adjust the AF mixture. In general increasing air flow will increase power, it also make the AF LEAN. You won't see any added POWER, but you might see better PERFORMANCE at speed, but a loss of torque off the line. Basically the available torque will move a little higher in the rev range. With your mods, the changes won't be much, we're talking tiny fractions of a # here..

Yes. But you will NOT get more out than the engine takes in -- as TCazes stated when he posted "Well you will allow more air out than what the bike is taking in to mix fuel etc."

On my vt750 I didn't notice any real change except the sound. It now sounds like a motorcycle. No popping or backfiring or sputtering on decel. Did not notice any loss of power.
