I just noticed that my 2003 VT1100 C Shadow spit some oil from the final drive unit. Any one know what what cause is?

In colder weather the gear lube in the drive unit will foam up and come out the vent. I switched to synthetic lube and it hasn't happened since.

Sounds like the problem. It was a very cold day today...I don't usually ride in this weather. Thanks for the heads-up. Phil

Another thing that often happens is because someone has filled the final drive from the vent tube at the top instead of the fill bolt half way up..
