Need some good advice. Twice now my 07 Aero has acted like its out of fuel. Both times it happened about 100 miles into a tank of fuel. Pulled over, flipped it to reserve, bike fires right up. Go to the gas station and it only takes 2.7 gallons which means I have a gallon left. After I fill it up, flip it back to main tank, it fires up and rides fine. Also, after I got to the gas station I shut it down, flipp

Flipped it back to main before I put fuel in and it fired right up. When it first happened it wouldn't start until I switched to reserve. But after riding a couple miles it worked on the main tank. I haves owned the bike for 2 weeks and am very green at doing my own wrenching. What should I start checking first?

Thats how many gal's I use and I get 117 miles before switching to res. Yours seems a little low but not to be alarmed. Just sounds like you not getting very good MPG.

Sometimes fuel pumps can get weak and refuse to empty the tank. When my pump failed this way, it would run great until about 89 miles, then if I ran it hard it would sputter out, but it would still run. There is a flow test to see if your pump is working correctly.

I would agree with you about the MPG except there is still a gallon in left in the tank when I fill up. Does that happen to you also?

I will pop the cap if it happens again and see if it fires up after that. How do you fix a clogged vent? Sounds like I news to have ny fuel pump flow tested as well. Thanks for the advice on that.

I should also mention that I have only had the bike for 2 weeks and it only had 1641 miles on it when I bought it.
