Default Changing light bulbs in '92 Speedometer

Hello all!!

1992 Honda Shadow 1100

Both the light bulbs in my speedometer went.

One did about 8 years ago.

But the second one just recent.

I ride home from work each night in the dark.

Question:

How hard is it to change the bulbs myself?

I see two screws underneath the speedometer casing.

If I take them off will the apparatus just drop down and I can get to them or is it more involved than that?

Thanks.

God bless!!

Michael

Not sure on the 92 but on my 01 I took the two screws out and it came right out of the bucket, Mine has a wedge type bulb and I used a LED in blue on mine, Stock bulb you could barely see the speed at night but the LED is BRIGHT

We stopped at the Honda dealer and the parts guru told us there are 5 light bulbs in the casing.

Maybe three in the indicators and the two others.

He said they are listed as bulb(s) #1, bulb(s) #2, and bulb(s) #3.

He was not sure which bulbs we needed since the diagram did not make that clear.

Where did you get your colored bulbs?

When I open the case I will try to find the correct bulbs and get some nice LED bulbs.

Great picture!

Thanks.

God bless!!

Not sure what bulb the older bikes use but my Spirit used Part Number: 74-xHP3 from the link below, Cheap prices too.

74 LED Bulb - 3 SMD LED Wide Angle Wedge Base | Miniature Wedge Base LEDs | LED Car Bulbs | Super Bright LEDs
