Default What size carb jets do I need?

I pulled the airbox out of my 94 shadow 600 and I'm hearing conflicting reports about what size jets to get. Please help. Do I also need to change the pilot jets? What about the shims on my needles(I already have a stage 1 dynojet kit from when I cut my pipes)?

I doubt anyone is going to be able to tell you exactly what jets/pilots/needle setting to use. You have created a custom situation that will require fairly specific jetting. Welcome to custom tuning.

Is there stage 2 instructions in your Dynojet kit?

What are you using for an air filter?

No, the company who makes the kit doesn't even offer a stage 2 or 3 for my bike, i'd have to order jets from someone else. I'm using 2 pancake filters directly on the carbs.

And I know it's a custom job but I just figured maybe someone out there pulled their airbox as well and could give me a general idea of what to go for. Thanks!

Anything I read just mentioned the main jets, I haven't seen anyone mention anything about the pilot jets or the shims. Just figured I'd ask while I have the carbs out.

What you need depends on what your AF mixture issues you are having or are trying to tune. The mods to you bike only determine the HOW you do the job. The gas coming from the pipes determine the specs.
The reason Dynojet don't offer stage 2 or 3 jet kits, is because it generally take more than exhaust and basic intake mods, to require them. Dyno jet stages have NOTHING to do with the jets in the kits, at DJ it's all about the needles and other parts. If you are reading about rejetting and getting confuse about the jet #'s thats NORMAL. See the numbers are meaningless unless everybody in the conversation is using the SAME jets from the same manufacturer.

Dynojet offers a stage 1 & 2 option in one kit for my bike. http://www.dynojet.com/pdf/1198.pdf

The instructions are specific for the stages and will get you pretty darn close with a tweak or two.

After looking on their site, I'm seeing it depends on the bike what stages they offer.

Also it says how moving the shims on the needles makes it richer/leaner but doesn't explain when/if I should do that.

Also it seemed like a good idea to use some trial and error until I saw they offer like 200 different sizes of each jet lol

Is this your bike? > Honda VT600c Vt600CD 1995-1998 Carb Jet Kit Calculator

The best advice I can give you is keep researching. Try to find out what the bike came with stock, then you'll know where to start. Look up jet kits for your bike, read the instructions, and see what they use for different mods and apps. Don't forget, jet sizes by different brands are not equal (I know, it complicates it more) FAQ Mikuni vs keihin vs dynojet
You'll start seeing a pattern develop. The best guess is an educated guess. Also, someone here may have more experience with your particular bike & app. You may be able to find a bike specific forum to help further by narrowing it down.

Good luck, C.W.
