BS yes, but not total BS.. Remember those recomendation are meant to cover everyone. The guy living in the desert of Arizona, the guy who gets 4 huricanes a year the guy that get 30 feet of snow for 9 months a year, the guy that has haboobs, the guy that rides on only the city streets, the guy that rides mostlly freeway, thae guy the puts and the guy that blasts down the road, you get it. Every bike has different needs, Not like they can write service recomendations to fit every possible scenerio or consition. So they generalize and give RECOMENDATIONS for the required services at APPROXIMATE intervals. The services are always required, the extent and periodicy of those services will and do vary

OK. I can see the wisdom of changing oil BEFORE going into storage. Over the season the oil picks up contaminates from moisture and combustion that could cause corrosion in the crankcase. But where I call BS is the recommendation to change it again after storage. The crankcase is essentially sealed except for a small vent, so new oil in the crankcase is not that much different than new oil still in the bottle. It's not doing anything except sit there. I cant help but wonder if Honda is just hoping that owners that will follow the manual that closely will also be using Honda oil. More revenue. If the new oil is going to be drained out unused, why not just store the bike without oil and hang a tag on the bike saying "add oil"?

I'm with gat too!! Once you fire the bike up any moisture will be gone, that's the white smoke you sometimes see on start-up. A more benificial thing to do would be to presurise the oil system befor firing it up, imo.
